The yen rallied in Asia. The yen touched 5-day highs of 93.15 against the US dollar, 92.08 against the Canadian dollar and 143.80 against the pound. Against the NZ dollar, the yen rose to a 1-week high of 78.34. The Japanese unit also jumped to session's highs of 101.13 against the Swiss franc, 124.92 against the euro and 96.55 against the Australian dollar around the same time.
